FAQ

What is my ISO Rating and how does this rating effect what I pay for home’s insurance?

Sale Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue has a split ISO Rating of 3/3X.  The rating is dependent on where you live within the district and the distance to both the nearest fire station and nearest fire hydrant.  We have signed Automatic Mutual Aid Agreements with both Soddy Daisy Fire Department and Brayton Volunteer Fire Department. These agreements enable us to maintain our ISO Ratings and save our community substantial sums of money every year.

The following examples were obtained from a major insurance carrier on 08/29/13.  They outline the cost differences between some of the different ISO Class Ratings.

v  For a home valued at $100,000.00:

A Class 10 ISO Rating (essentially no fire protection) = Yearly Premium $1164.00

A Class 9 ISO Rating = $815.00       (a savings of $349.00 per year over a Class 10)

A Class 4 ISO Rating = $622.00       (a savings of $542.00 over a Class 10 & $193.00 over a Class 9 per year)

v  For a home valued at $200,000.00:

A Class 10 ISO Rating (essentially no fire protection) = Yearly Premium $1636.00

A Class 9 ISO Rating = $1143.00    (a savings of $493.00 per year over a Class 10)

A Class 4 ISO Rating = $874.00       (a savings of $762.00 over a Class 10 & $269.00 over a Class 9 per year)

v  For a home valued at $400,000.00:

A Class 10 ISO Rating (essentially no fire protection) = Yearly Premium $2900.00

A Class 9 ISO Rating = $2024.00    (a savings of $876.00 per year over a Class 10)

A Class 4 ISO Rating = $1542.00    (a savings of $1358 over a Class 10 & $482.00 over a Class 9 per year)

How can I provide financial support to the fire department?

While we do receive some funding from Hamilton County, we rely greatly on the donations and contributions that come in from the community.  The costs associated with operating the department are great and continue to increase every year.  Please help ensure that we receive the financial support needed to provide the fire protection that you deserve by sending your tax deductible donation to Sale Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 415, Sale Creek, TN 37373.

You are also able to provide support online with your credit card via our PayPal link found on our homepage.

Will the fire department fill my swimming pool?
